Follow the signs out of the airport to Cádiz. The San Miguel beer factory will
be on your right hand side, once past this, bear right onto a main highway
(still signed to Cádiz).
After approximately 2kms, you fork to the right. This turning will have blue
motorway signs for the A7 / AP7 to Benalmadena, Algeciras and Cádiz.
DO NOT follow the white signs to Torremolinos / Benalmadena.
Stay on this highway (A7) for approximately
25kms. When you get towards Fuengirola stay
in the right hand lane. DO NOT filter onto the
AP7 toll road (the P is for ‘Peaje’ which means
‘Toll’). Stay on the A7/N340 NOT the AP7. This
is as you come down the hill and is also sign
posted Fuengirola - the three lanes split into 4
lanes, you need the right hand lanes. The
A7/N340 is a dual carriageway and is the coastal
road. This bypasses Fuengirola which you will
see in a short time on your left.
Continue along the A7/N340 for approximately 18kms,
passing through El Faro, Mijas Costa, Riviera, Calahonda,
Cabopino and Las Chapas.
Shortly after the Las Chapas turn, look out for a “REPSOL”
filling station on the right-hand side as this indicates you
are getting very close to Elviria.
Approximately 0.5 km after the Repsol filling station, take
the exit signed to Elviria (Kilometre Marker post 192).
Another useful landmark at this exit is the tall Don Carlos 5*
hotel on your left, you can just see the top over the trees.
There are two parts to this slip. Most of the slip roads off the N340 have this system. i.e. a long slip road to
the turning and one immediately at the turning. Take either one.
Once you have turned off for Elviria you come to a
roundabout. (remember traffic will be coming
from your left, so give way).
Immediately on the right you will see some shops.
There is a small supermarket called OPENCOR,
it’s open 365 days - 8am to
2am.
Go straight over the roundabout.
Continue up the tree lined boulevard and you come
to another roundabout. This has a metal art feature
in the middle, you want the second exit that takes
you up the hill.
You will cross over the motorway.
Continue up the hill and you will pass the kennels on your right.
There are a number of signs saying ‘El Soto’,
‘El Vicario’ and ‘La Mairena’ as you drive along this road which
takes you up the hill.
Follow the road up the hill for about 7 minutes. You will then
see some signs on your right and a large white wall with La
Mairena painted on it.
Turn right immediately before this wall, don’t continue up the
hill. This road runs parallel to the hill. You then follow this
road, it’s a bit of a winding road, to the next junction.
At the junction at the end, you turn sharp right. This is the
main road in and out of El Soto de Marbella, ‘Marbella Hill
View’ will be on your left. Follow along this road for a short
distance, until the road forks. Take the left hand fork, this
takes you down the hill and round a few corners. You will see
signs for the Golf Club House, turn left down the hill. The
club house is on the right hand side. Turn into the car park.
Peter will be waiting inside for you. You can now relax and
start your holiday with a drink!!!
